An explosion has occurred at the visa center near the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Embassy in the Gulshan-2 area, Dhaka, afternoon of Jan. 13. The blast happened at the Empori Financial Tower and was reportedly caused by an air conditioning compressor. At least two people have been injured, though authorities may release updated information on casualties in the coming hours. Authorities have reportedly closed roads in the area. Officials do not currently suspect a terrorism motive for the blast.

Authorities will likely maintain increased security and close roads near the blast site in the coming hours. Localized transport disruptions are probable.
