Health officials have adjusted some business and movement restrictions in Jilin Province, with tighter controls imposed in areas, due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) activity. As of Jan. 27, authorities have declared the entirety of Dongchang District, Tonghua City, to be a high-risk area. The government has suspended all nonessential travel, gatherings, and business operations throughout Tonghua. Officials define five communities in Jilin, including two in Changchun, two in Songyuan, and one in Tonghua, as medium risk. Designated medium-risk areas in Changchun are located in areas of Luyuan District and Erdao District near the city center. Residents of medium-risk areas must quarantine until they receive a negative result from a nucleic acid COVID-19 test. Officials have suspended some public transport services, nonessential businesses, and large gatherings in cities with medium-risk communities. Similar measures may be applied in other parts of Jilin Province in the coming days.

Authorities have not announced the duration of the restrictions. Officials will extend controls if they discover additional cases. Numerous security and emergency response personnel have deployed to conduct health screenings in affected areas. Officials will conduct temperature scans and ensure people wear protective face coverings on public transport throughout the province. The government will likely continue to conduct mass testing as a precaution.

Authorities in most provinces and cities require people traveling from designated medium-risk areas to undergo increased health screenings. Provincial and municipal governments will likely continue to advise residents to avoid all nonessential travel to affected regions.
