Planned water outages affecting parts of Colombo, Sri Lanka, through at least 0900 Jan. 24. Commercial disruptions possible.

Informational

Event

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) announced planned water supply outages in parts of Colombo from 0900 Jan. 23 through at least 0900 Jan. 24. Affected areas include zones 1-3, as well as 7-12. The NWSDB says pipeline shifting works are causing the disruptions.

Business disruptions are possible during the outage, especially for companies that depend on large quantities of municipal water to maintain operations. Residents typically rely on private water tankers during outages. Delays in works may prolong the suspension of supplies.

Advice

Stock up on drinking water in advance. Confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes.
