DRC: South African military plane crash-lands at Goma airport (GOM) January 9

A South African air force transport aircraft crash-landed and caught fire at Goma International Airport (GOM) on Thursday, January 9. The plane was returning from a UN peacekeeping mission in Beni when its left engine reportedly went up in flames upon landing at GOM. The plane was carrying 59 passengers and eight crew members; there were no casualties, according to authorities. Investigations into the incident are underway as of Thursday evening (local time).
