Thailand: Fine dust reported above safe levels in Bangkok January 21

As of Tuesday, January 21, the Thai Pollution Control Department (PCD) reported an unsafe level of PM2.5 fine dust concentration between 55 to 89 micrograms per cubic meters for 50 out of 52 areas in the Greater Bangkok Area. The Phra Nakhon district is reportedly the most affected.

Unsafe smog levels have also been reported in some districts of the Ayutthaya, Chachoengsao, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Chon Buri, Kanchanaburi, Lampang, Nakhon Pathom, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Sawan, Nan, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Phayao, Phrae, Prachin Buri, Ratchaburi, Rayong, Samut Prakan, Sa Kaeo, Saraburi, Suphan Buri, and Tak provinces.

The situation is likely to continue over the coming days.

A concentration of PM2.5 fine dust above 50 micrograms per cubic meter of air is considered unsafe.
