Warning

Event

Another tropical depression is moving towards Samoa and is expected to pass by on Friday, February 21, into Saturday, February 22. The storm is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds to Samoa through Saturday and follow a similar path to Tropical Cyclone Vicky. According to the New Zealand Met, there is a high chance that it develops into a tropical cyclone.

Associated flooding and transportation disruptions are possible over the coming hours and days.

Advice

Individuals in Samoa are advised to monitor local weather reports, anticipate lingering transportation and business disruptions, confirm flight reservations, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
