UK: Severe flood warnings issued across England and Wales due to Storm Dennis February 16 /update 4

On Sunday morning (local time), February 16, the Met Office issued a red warning for rain for parts of south Wales amid the passage of Storm Dennis. As of the afternoon, the south Wales alert has been downgraded to amber. Four severe flood warnings remain in place across England and two others in Wales, indicating potentially life-threatening conditions. In England, the warnings are in force for areas around Eardiston, Little Hereford and Ashford Carbonel, Ludlow, as well as Tenbury Wells and Burford. Severe flood warnings for Wales have been issued for Aberdulais and Pontypridd.

Several airlines canceled flights to and from the UK throughout the weekend, impacting an estimated 50,000 travelers. EasyJet reportedly canceled 234 flights on Saturday, February 15, with another 60 set to be grounded on Sunday. Additionally, British Airways has canceled approximately 40 flights due to Storm Dennis. Further flight cancelations or delays are expected in the coming hours and days.

Rail services have been suspended across south Wales, and in parts of England and Scotland, according to National Rail.

Continued transportation disruptions to land, rail, air, and ferry services, hazardous driving conditions, and power outages are expected over the coming hours and days.
