At least one militant was killed in clashes with security forces in Shopian district (Jammu and Kashmir territory) on Friday, April 17. According to local media sources, a security operation was launched on Friday morning (local time) following reports of the presence of the militants in the area. The militants reportedly fired upon the security forces as they arrived in the area of Dairoo Keegam village. Security forces have cordoned off the area and are continuing search operations to locate the remaining militants present.

Similar clashes are possible the area over the near term.
