UK: Union announces Tyne and Wear Metro strike January 6-7

Transport union calls for a Tyne and Wear Metro strike between January 6-7; transportation disruptions expected

The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) has called for a strike on the Tyne and Wear Metro from Monday, January 6, through Tuesday, January 7, to demand better pay. The operator has said that there will be no metro services if the work stoppage goes ahead, including to Newcastle International Airport (NCL). 

Transportation disruptions including delays and cancelations are expected during the strike, as well as an increased demand for alternative means of transport.
