Unionized air traffic control (ATC) workers in Italy plan to strike nationwide 13:00-17:00 Sept. 7. Regional unions representing ATC workers in Rome, Milan, Turin, Pescara, Naples, and Genoa also plan to strike during the same time period.

The actions will likely lead to nationwide flight disruptions, including delays and cancellations, particularly in areas where additional strikes are planned. However, the actions are unlikely to be crippling as Italian law mandates minimum levels of essential services during labor actions. Disruptions could extend for several hours beyond the scheduled strike time as staff resume their duties and deal with any backlog of flights.
