Belgium: Stabbing incident reported in Ghent February 2

At least two people wounded in stabbing attack in Ghent February 2; assailant shot and apprehended by police



A woman reportedly stabbed and wounded two people on Bevrijdingslaan Street in Ghent on the afternoon (local time) on Sunday, February 2. According to media reports, the police shot and apprehended the assailant. Police have cordoned off the area and an investigation is underway. Details are still emerging.  

A heightened security presence is to be expected near the scene of the incident while the investigation is ongoing. Associated disruptions, such as road closures, are to be expected in the affected area over the coming hours.
