Kenya: Landslide kills 42 in the northwest November 23

Landslide leaves at least 42 dead in West Pokot County as of November 23; more rain forecast in coming days



Heavy rain has caused landslides in West Pokot County, killing at least 24 people as of Saturday, November 23. Infrastructure damage was also reported, including inaccessible roads and four bridges that were swept away.

More rainfall is forecast in West Pokot County over the coming several days, which may cause additional landslides. Consequent transportation disruptions are to be expected in affected areas over the near term.


Individuals in the affected area are advised to avoid the area of the landslide and obey all instructions issued by the local authorities.
