Workers at Petrobras call for a nationwide strike on February 1; power disruptions possible

A union representing workers at Petrobras has confirmed a nationwide strike scheduled for Saturday, February 1. Workers are expected to participate in the work stoppage indefinitely, in protest to the company's plans to lay off 396 employees.

Associated disruptions including fuel shortages are possible, although Petrobras has said that it has contingency plans in place.
