Denmark: Security forces arrest terror suspects in nationwide raids December 11

Security forces arrest 20 individuals on suspicion of planning terror attack December 11; similar operations possible over the near term



Police arrested 20 individuals in nationwide raids on Wednesday, December 11. According to officials, the suspects were attempting to obtain explosives and firearms in preparation for an Islamist militant attack. No information was provided regarding potential targets of the attack. At least 20 properties were raided by six police departments on Wednesday.


Individuals in Denmark are advised to report any suspicious objects or behavior to the authorities and to exercise caution at all times, particularly when visiting sites that are particularly likely to be targeted in an attack (e.g. public transportation, train stations, ports, airports, public or government buildings, embassies or consulates, international organizations, schools and universities, religious sites, markets, hotels and restaurants frequented by foreigners/Westerners, festivals, etc.), especially in major cities.
