Two injured in central Vienna after shots were fired by unknown attacker on December 21; avoid area of the attack

An unidentified assailant fired shots at a traditional Austrian restaurant called Figlemüller, in downtown Vienna, located few meters from the St. Stephen's Cathedral on Friday, December 21. At least two people have been injured in the attack. A police operation is currently underway with a large area around the restaurant being cordoned off. According to the police, the suspect is on the run. The motive behind the incident remains unknown; details are still emerging. A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the attack.
