Union schedules revolution anniversary protest in Tunis on January 14; heightened security presence expected

The General Tunisian Workers Union (UGTT) has called for a protest in Tunis on Tuesday, January 14, amid the ninth anniversary of the revolution that launched the so-called Arab Spring. Participants are expected to gather at Place Mohamed Ali as of 10:30 (local time). Gatherings and associated protests are likely in other urban centers across the country on the same date.

A heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of all gatherings. Clashes between protesters and police cannot be ruled out
