Italy: Pisa Airport resumes normal operations September 27 /update 4

Pisa International Airport (PSA) resumes normal operations September 27 as aerial firefighting operations cease

Passenger flights resumed at Pisa International Airport (PSA), also known as Galileo Galilei Airport, on Thursday, September 27. The airport closed to passenger flight traffic on Tuesday, September 25, to allow for aerial firefighting operations to use the facilities.

A fire broke out on Monte Serra on September 24, prompting evacuations in Calci and Vicopisano. Firefighting operations are ongoing, though progress has been made against several of the blazes.

Individuals in affected areas are advised to exercise caution when traveling near the wildfire, adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities (e.g. evacuation orders), and monitor the situation. Travelers flying to or from PSA are advised to confirm the status of their flight prior to leaving for the airport and to contact their airline for additional information.
