Warning

Event

The Dominica Meteorological Service has forecast that a tropical wave is expected to continue to affect the island through Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12. The weather disturbance is forecast to bring cloud, showers, and thunderstorms from 18:00 (local time) on Saturday, through 06:00 on Sunday. People in areas prone to flooding and landslides are being advised to remain vigilant. The weather conditions are forecast to improve through Sunday and into next week.

Residual disruptions, including power outages and transportation disruption, are possible in the coming hours and days due to the adverse weather.

Advice

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, anticipate adverse weather and power and transportation disruptions, and remember that running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) is enough to knock over an adult - and never drive through flooded streets; floodwater may also contain wastewater and chemical products.
