Heavy rains and associated floods kill 24 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province March 31 – April 5; associated disruptions expected

As of Sunday, April 5, heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding that have affected the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province since Tuesday, March 31, have killed 24 people and damaged or destroyed at least 31 buildings. Weather officials forecast moderate rain episodes on Tuesday, April 7, while some roads remain closed in the region.

Heavy rain, flooding, and associated transportation disruptions are to be anticipated.

Individuals in Pakistan, notably Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are advised to monitor local weather reports, anticipate lingering transportation and business disruptions, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
