German police and anti-terror units arrested a man at his apartment in Berlin on Wednesday, August 22. Police believe the suspect to be an accomplice of a French national arrested on terror charges in Marseille (France) in 2017. The two are accused of preparing a bomb attack that they intended to carry out in 2016. According to the Federal Prosecutor's office, the arrested man is a Russian national of Chechen origin and is a member of a radical Islamist group. Though a search for explosives was executed in the suspect's apartment, none were found. The suspect is expected to appear in court on August 23.
