South Africa: Demonstration planned in Pretoria January 23

Demonstration planned outside US Embassy in Pretoria January 23; heightened security presence and transportation disruptions expected



According to US diplomatic sources, a demonstration regarding recent developments in the Middle East is set to take place outside the US Embassy in Pretoria on Thursday, January 23. Participants will gather outside the embassy from 10:00 to 14:00 (local time) on Thursday. Police are expected to close two lanes of Pretorius Street to accommodate the demonstration. Visitor's entry and access to the visitor's parking lot at the embassy may be disrupted during the demonstration.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the demonstration.
