Namibia: Presidential and parliamentary elections set for November 27

Presidential and parliamentary elections to take place on November 27; heightened security presence and transportation disruptions expected during the election day

Namibia will respectively hold its presidential and parliamentary elections on Wednesday, November 27. While 11 candidates will run for the presidency, 15 parties will compete for the 96 parliamentary seats. The Southern African Development Community Electoral Observer Mission (SEOM) is invited to ensure the smooth conduct of elections, though past elections were reported impartial and trustworthy.

Heightened security measures and traffic disruptions should be anticipated around polling sites and political gatherings.

Individuals in Namibia are advised to monitor developments, avoid all public demonstrations and polling sites, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
