A march called by the Jawaharlal Nehru Students' Union (JNUSU) is ongoing in Delhi as of Monday, December 9. Protesters have reportedly gathered at around 12:30 (local time) at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus. The initial march route, which was expected to link JNU campus to the presidential residence of Rashtrapati Bhawan, have been restricted and authorities announced protesters will be stopped at the Sarojini Nagar bus depot.
A heightened security presence has been deployed around the JNU campus, and the Udyog Bhawan, Lok Kalyan Marg, and Central Secretariat Metro stations have reportedly been closed. Roads leading to JNU and the Baba Gangnath Marg road have been closed to traffic. Localized transportation disruptions are also expected along the march route. Further similar protests are likely to take place in the coming days.
Individuals in New Delhi are advised to monitor the situation, avoid all public gatherings as a precaution, budget additional time for travel, anticipate transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
