Reports indicate that 13 out of 54 escaped prisoners have so far been arrested following a prison break in Moroni on Sunday, November 15. The escape took place at around 19:00 (local time) when prisoners broke down a wall of the prison, using rubble as projectiles against guards, leaving nine wounded. Among the escapees is Inssa Mohamed, who was in pre-trial detention for reportedly taking part in an alleged attack on Comoros President Azali Assoumani in April of this year.

A heightened security presence is likely in the area in the coming days as police and military personnel work to recapture inmates.
