Close to 4000 Indian Sikh pilgrims are expected to travel to the Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib, located in Hasan Abdal (Punjab province) some 35 km (20 mi) north of the capital Islamabad, through November 30. A heightened security presence has been observed around the religious site and more largely throughout the province amid a persistent terrorist threat, which particularly concerns religious minorities.

Context

The Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib is a sacred place of worship in the Sikh religion.
