Thailand: Storms damage hundreds of homes in Nakhon Ratchasima province April 5-6

Summer storms damage over 200 houses in Chok Chai district (Nakhon Ratchasima province) April 5-6; anticipate associated disruptions.

Strong summer storms have damaged over 200 houses in the Chok Chai district of Nakhon Ratchasima province on Sunday, April 5, and Monday, April 6. Local officials reported that 128 houses were damaged in tambon Tha Chalung and 91 in tambon Lalom Mai Phatthana. Local authorities are surveying the damage in order to appeal for state assistance for affected households.

Residual disruptions are possible in the affected area in the coming days.

Lalom Mai Phatthana has been hit three times by summer storms in recent months. Summer storms have struck many provinces across Thailand since mi-February, resulting in property damage.

Individuals in the affected area are advised to monitor weather forecasts and to adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities (e.g. potential evacuation orders). In the event of flooding, remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) of water is enough to knock over an adult.
