Warning

Event

Students in Mexico City are planning to hold a protest on Monday, September 3. Protesters are expected to gather at the Bombilla Park at 13:00 (local time) before marching to the General Directorate of the National Colegio de Ciencias y Humanidades (CCH). Although the event is likely to remain peaceful, it is likely to be well attended and traffic disruptions are expected near along the route of the march. Further protests are possible in the coming days and weeks.

Context

Students at the CCH are holding an indefinite strike since August 27, to protest against, what they perceive, academic and administrative irregularities within the institution, prompting the school director to quit on August 30.

Advice

Individuals in Mexico City are advised to avoid all protests due to the risk of violence.
