Tatar nationalist group to rally in Kazan November 18-19; heightened security presence and transportation disruptions expected



The Azatlyk Union of Tatar Youth, a Tatar nationalist organization, has announced plans for two demonstrations in Kazan on Sunday, November 18, and Monday, November 19. According to organizers, demonstrators will gather at the Fyodor Chaliapin monument on Bauman Street on Sunday, while a second protest will be held outside the Chinese consulate on Podluzhnaya Street on Monday. A heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the demonstrations.


The Azatlyk Union of Tatar Youth is a Tatar nationalist organization that regularly conducts demonstrations in solidarity with the global Turkic community, especially Tatars. The group has called for demonstrations in support of Muslim minority groups, including the Uighurs, in China.
