Protesters to gather in Santo Domingo on November 4; avoid all demonstrations as a precaution



A demonstration has been planned outside the National Congress in the capital Santo Domingo on Wednesday, November 4. Protesters are gathering over pension issues; the exact timing of the demonstration is not immediately clear. Previous associated rallies have turned violent with protesters throwing objects and security forces firing tear gas to disperse them.

A heightened security presence is expected in the vicinity of the demonstration and localized transportation disruptions should be anticipated.  


Those in Santo Domingo are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate associated disruptions, and avoid all demonstrations and political gatherings as a precaution.
