US Embassy warns of risk to American citizens nationwide March 27; maintain a low profile



On Friday, March 27, the Virtual US Embassy in Venezuela has published a security alert stating that "U.S. citizens in Venezuela may currently be at increased risk of threats or aggression from the Venezuelan regime's armed mercenary groups, known locally as colectivos." The Embassy advises American citizens and those linked to the US residing in the country to keep a low profile and only leave quarantine location if necessary. Assistance can be sought through the US Embassy in Bogota, Colombia.
