Independence groups have called for torch marches throughout Catalonia on Friday, December 20, and Saturday, December 21, to call for the release of political prisoners, a now eighteen-year tradition.

Participants in Castelló d'Empúries (Girona) will gather on Friday at Plaça de la Basilica at 19:00 (local time). Those in Girona will gather at Plaça del Vi as of 19:30. Cadaques, Capelades, and Igualda, as well as many other towns will hold similar events.

Participants in Barcelona are set to gather on Saturday at Plaça Universitat starting at 19:30.
