United Airlines announced on Thursday, February 13, that it would cancel some of its flights to Barcelona due to the Mobile World Congress trade show's cancelation. The trade show, the world's largest for telecommunications trade, was canceled because several companies withdrew their participation due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
United said it would provide a full refund to those who choose not to travel to Barcelona due to the event's cancelation, as well as waive cancelation fees. Affected flights were scheduled for Wednesday, February 26, and Thursday, February 27, departing from Newark and San Francisco.
Individuals are advised to confirm flight reservations and contact the airline for more information.
