The Ministry of Health in Puerto Rico stated that over 5000 cases of influenza have been reported as of Wednesday, December 11. The city of Ponce is the most affected to date. Though the number of cases is below last year's, further spread of the disease remains possible in the coming weeks and months.
Individuals in Puerto Rico are advised to confirm their vaccination status, take preventative measures to minimize the risk of contraction (e.g. wash hands thoroughly, avoid contact with sick individuals, etc.), and consult medical professionals if exhibiting flu-like symptoms.
