Pakistan: Lawyers storm hospital in Lahore December 11

A mob of around 100 lawyers reportedly stormed the Punjab Institute of Cardiology in Lahore on Wednesday, December 11. According to officials, the crowd ransacked the hospital, breaking windowpanes and equipment. Some of the protesters fired gunshots and hurled bricks at police, who used tear gas to disperse the mob. At least three patients in the hospital died amid the skirmishes. The attack comes in apparent retaliation for the beating of a lawyer by doctors at the hospital. An investigation into the incident has been launched.

Further clashes in Lahore cannot be ruled out over the coming days.
