DRC: Judges launch indefinite strike February 10

Judges start unlimited strike and hold associated protests in Kinshasa February 10; further protest likely

According to media sources, the Syndicat Autonome des Magistrats du Congo (Synamac) announced the beginning of an unlimited strike to demand decent wages and better working conditions by blocking Kinshasa's Courthouse on Monday, February 10.

Further protests are possible over the coming days should the union's demands not be met.

A heightened police presence and localized traffic disruptions are expected around all rallies and marches.

Individuals in Kinshasa are advised to avoid all protests as a precaution, monitor the situation, and obey instructions issued by the local authorities.
