On Sunday, February 2, meteorological authorities issued several weather warnings across Germany due to forecast inclement weather. In the southernmost country, red weather alerts were issued for heavy rain, possibly resulting in landslides, and will remain in effect through Tuesday, February 4. Additional orange and yellow warnings are also in place for strong winds in central and southern Germany. Two red weather warnings will remain in effect this Monday in the Erzgebirgskreis and Harz districts in central Germany where wind gusts of 105 kph (65 mph) are expected.
