Indonesia: Floods submerge over a thousand houses in Jambi province November 26

Flooding in Jambi province following heavy rains submerges over a thousand homes in Sarolangun and Merangin districts on November 26; monitor weather updates

Over a thousand homes were submerged by floodwaters in Jambi province's Sarolangun and Merangin districts following heavy rain on Thursday, November 26. The Sarolangun district Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that up to two meters (6.6 ft) of flooding occurred in some areas. Rice fields were also inundated and impassable bridges and highways have cut off some areas amid the flooding.

Further scattered thunderstorms are forecast over the coming days and could lead to more flooding. Residual disruptions to transport, businesses, and utilities are expected in the area over the near term.

Those in affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, anticipate transportation disruptions, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions before setting out, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, including evacuation orders. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters.
