Armed gunmen killed 47 people in attacks on multiple villages in Katsina state early on Saturday, April 18. Reports from local police state that up to 300 individuals were believed to have been involved in the attacks. The perpetrators are believed to have fled into a nearby forest following the early morning raids. Multiple detachments from the Nigerian Army, Air Force, Civil Defence and Department of State Services have been dispatched to the area to search for those believed to be involved in the attacks.

Similar attacks are possible in Katsina state in the near term.
