Travel disruptions were reported along the N3 highway in the Heidelberg area (Gauteng province) on Friday, November 20, after an arson incident targeting trucks on Thursday night, November 19. Police confirmed that at least nine trucks had been torched after the perpetrators used their vehicles to block the road between Heidelberg and Vosloorus and threw petrol bombs at the haulage vehciles. The motive for the arson attack has not been confirmed. Traffic along the N3 remains suspended in both directions on Friday morning and was being diverted along the R103 and the N17 via Brakpan.

Residual delays to transport are expected to continue in the area in the coming hours. Further attacks targeting haulage vehicles are possible.
