On the morning (local time) of Wednesday, January 30, a gas leak caused an explosion and fire in an apartment building in downtown Changchun (Jilin province), leaving at least eight people dead and three others wounded. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.


A few days earlier, on January 25, a series of explosions rocked the Wanda Shopping Plaza building in downtown Changchun.


Individuals present in downtown Changchun are advised to avoid the site of the explosion and adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities.
