Ethiopia: Violent protest reported in Hagare Mariam (Oromia) January 10

Clashes reported between students and police forces in Hagare Mariam (Oromia region) January 10; avoid all gatherings



Local media sources reported on Friday, January 10, that police forces fired at students of the Bule Hora University located in Hagere Maryam (Oromia region) who gathered earlier in the day amid a second consecutive day of regional student protests. Protesters seek to denounce recurrent violence in the western part of the region. At least 12 students were reportedly injured in the incident.

Further clashes and related protests are possible in the coming hours and days.
