Mexico: Manual laborers to march from Mexicali to Palenque January 7-February 6

Manual laborers to stage protest march from Mexicali to Palenque denouncing President Lopez Obrador January 7-February 6; associated transportation disruptions expected along march route

Manual laborers in Mexicali (Baja California state) have called for a month-long protest starting on Tuesday, January 7, through Thursday, February 6, in opposition to President Lopez Obrador and his perceived failure to deliver promised aid and benefits. Participants will leave Mexicali on January 7 and march to the President's ranch in Palenque (Chiapas state).

Associated transportation disruptions are to be expected along the march route.

Individuals in affected areas are advised to monitor the situation, budget ample travel time when transiting protest-affected areas, and avoid all demonstrations as a precaution.
