Unknown gunmen attacked and killed a police commander in Mazar-e-Sharif (Balkh province) on Wednesday, November 25. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening (local time). Investigations into the shooting and search operations for the perpetrators remain ongoing. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Further attacks are possible. A heightened security presence is expected in the area in the near term following the incident and as security operations continue.
