The Chinese weather agency has issued a blue alert for heavy rain forecast for August 23-24 in Jilin, Liaoning, Guizhou, and Fujian provinces. Up to 30 cm (12 in) of rainfall is expected within a 24-hour period, along with thunderstorms. A blue alert also remains in effect in coastal areas of Jiangsu and Shandong provinces due to heavy rain and winds brought by Typhoon Soulik. Flooding and landslides are possible in the above regions.
China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system: red is the most severe, followed by orange, yellow, and blue.
Individuals in the above areas are advised to keep abreast of weather forecasts, be prepared for associated transportation disruptions, limit outdoor activities, and adhere to any instructions issued by local authorities.
