Police arrest suspect and free two hostages at parcel facility in Logan Township (New Jersey) January 14; heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions expected



Police reportedly arrested a man and freed two hostages in Logan Township (New Jersey) on Monday, January 14, after responding to reports of an active shooter at a United Parcel Service (UPS) facility. Officials indicate police shot and wounded the suspect after a brief confrontation; the hostages were not injured in the standoff. A security cordon remains in place near 200 Birch Creek Road. A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are to be expected near the facility for the duration of the police investigation.


A man took at least two people hostage in an apparent domestic dispute at the UPS facility in Logan Township at approximately 09:30 (local time) on January 14. 


Individuals in Logan Township are advised to monitor developments to the situation, continue to avoid the industrial park and parcel facility, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
