Police and anarchists clash in Athens on December 6-7; business disruptions reported

Police and protesters clashed in the Exarchia neighborhood in Athens on Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7. Groups gathered on Friday in protest to mark the 11th anniversary of Alexander Grigoropoulos's death by police. Participants threw Molotov cocktails andat least 50 arrests were made. Businesses were also reportedly vandalized and possibly looted in the early morning hours (local time) on Saturday.

A heightened security presence and business disruptions are to be expected over the coming several hours in the Exarchia neighborhood.
