Israel Defense Forces (IDF) personnel opened fire on two Palestinian militants as they were planting an explosive device next to the security fence along the Gazan border during the early morning hours (local time) of Sunday, February 23. According to the IDF, at least one of the suspected militants was hit during the engagement near Khan Yunis. Additional gunfire and explosions were reported by local media sources in the area.

Further cross-border fire is possible along the Israeli-Gazan border over the coming hours and days.
