Brazil: Nationwide demonstrations scheduled December 8
Group schedules nationwide demonstrations for policy change December 8; associated transportation disruptions and heightened security measures expected

The Vem Pra Rua group has called for nationwide demonstrations on Sunday, December 8, to demand the government write a repeal to a Supreme Court decision banning the detention of convicts prior to their final appeal efforts are heard. Demonstrations are to be expected in most urban centers, including in the following cities:
- Brasilia in front of the National Congress building, as of 10:00 (local time)
- Sao Paulo at the intersection of Av. Paulista and Pamplona Street, as of 15:00
- Rio de Janeiro at the Copacabana Beach - R. Miguel Lemos, as of 10:00.
Large crowds, as well as transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence are to be expected in the vicinity of all protests.
