Flooding in Kuwait leaves one person dead as of November 10; state of emergency lifted at Kuwait Oil Company

Warning

Event

Flooding in Kuwait had left at least one person dead as of Saturday, November 10. The state of emergency issued by the Kuwait Oil Company due to inclement weather was lifted on Saturday. Further forecast rainfall from Wednesday, November 14, may exacerbate flooding and cause transportation disruptions, including flight disruptions at Kuwait International Airport (KWI).

Advice

Individuals in Kuwait are advised to follow weather forecasts in the coming days and adhere to any advice issued by the local authorities (e.g. potential evacuation orders). In the event of flooding, keep in mind that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
