Maldives Police Service claimed to have foiled a terror attack organized by a group of religious extremists on Wednesday, November 11, coinciding with nationwide Republic Day celebrations. Five suspected terrorists were arrested in various locations amid the operation; one suspect was arrested in the capital Malé, three from a vessel at sea, and one from Thimarafushi island. Police have not released further details surrounding the terror attack as the operation and investigations remain ongoing.
